Reading the course bibliography and drawing notes at the first year of University: obstacles and strategiesThis work is part of a didactic-curricular innovation that has been implemented for ten years in a Biology professorship at the Ciclo Básico Común (CBC) of the University of Buenos Aires, which is the first year of every degree at this university. The link between learning and the concept of "epistemic dialogue between the different discourses circulating in the classroom," emerged during the course of this innovation, promoted the development of strategies to stimulate oral and written dialogue between teachers and students. At present, teachers/researchers began to pay attention to two other potentially important speeches to learn biology: literature and students notes taken during the class. We present here the results obtained by analyzing the characteristics of students as traditional literature readers and as class note-takers. We discuss various didactic devices assigned to overcome the difficulties that many students encounter when facing both tasks. Obtained data shows the difficulties of many students to deal with comprehensive reading of college textbooks. Without detracting from the importance of teaching to select and prioritize the information, the results suggest the advisability of accompanying the development of certain issues with bibliographic text written by teachers with a complexity and language more according to the reading characteristics of the students. On the other hand, the notes that many students take during the class do not contain the most relevant information submitted by the teacher, and the recorded one appears as a list of unrelated items. As notes are the most used resource in young people to perform their tasks and their assessments, the results suggest the need for guidance in the form of taking notes and the designing of activities to rank the use of connectors.
